Debt is the curse of our time. We owe so much it would make our ancestors’ heads spin. For some their income can cope with the repayments. For others their income simply does not cover all the outgoing and those debts are rising to ever more unsustainable levels.

The current world financial woes have just heightened the problem and raised the spectra of collapsing economies and the resultant pain and poverty that will inevitably follow. There is no time to be lost. You simply have to set your house in order. Firstly, grab all the family credit cards and lock them away or destroy them. They are way too easy to get into trouble with. Next make a complete list of all your debts. Put them in order of amount borrowed and by the highest interest rate charges. Determine the lowest amount that is required to be paid collectively each month.

Now you need to work out your new budget. List all your monthly expenditures. Do not forget to make a monthly allowance for those periodic payments like rates and insurances. Go through the budget and delete all unnecessary items like membership subscriptions and cable TV subscriptions. Delete everything that is not necessary to everyday living. If there is money left over after this analysis you can look at reinstating those things again later on.

Now work out outgoing compared to income. Hopefully, this will now show a surplus. If this proves to be the case use this surplus to commence paying off the debt with the highest interest rate. Get the first one paid off and then work on the one with the next highest debt. You will now have a higher surplus each month so maybe you can reward yourself with reinstating cable TV or the gym membership, but take it slowly.

If, after doing your budget you are still behind the eight ball you will need to look at reorganizing your debt into one single loan at a better over all interest rate. Shop around to find the best deal. This may prove difficult but keep trying. If all else fails, try getting a better job that pays more or look at moonlighting in a part time job. Maybe you could live with relatives until you get back on your feet.

There are always alternatives but you must make a start on killing off the debt. Nothing will improve if you do not take action. Remember to break the credit card habit and write out and commit to a budget.

Believe
Believe, in yourself and your abilities. You don’t need to impress anyone. You don’t even need to share your dreams at the beginning, you just need to allow yourself to dream. Even if you don’t have a clue about how you will achieve your dream, believe, relax, act and let it happen. It is the journey which is the achievement.

Find Your Compelling Moment
What’s affecting your life today? Are your time poor? Do you feel your life lacks meaning? Do you want to leave a legacy? You can be sure you’re not alone. What have you seen, heard or read about lately which really grabbed your interest? Not necessarily the overwhelming “bad news”, but something where you can make a difference. Something you would be proud to share with Oprah on her show, something important to you, something which makes you feel empowered.

Discover Your Passion
Whether you love painting, cooking, knitting, beading, jewelry making, scrap booking, woodworking, home decorating, gardening, sewing, writing or any of the other many arts, crafts, hobbies or pursuits, you can weave it into your lifestyle in some way. Perhaps you can make gifts for your family and friends. Your passion can be a solitary activity aimed at personal satisfaction or something you can share.

Learn From The Experts
While you don’t want to copy anyone, and you need to express your own originality, you can get lots of ideas, techniques and motivation from others. Who are the experts in your passion? Google them, read up on what they are doing, find out about the next big trend. Be inspired to adapt your skills to a hot new project.

Easy Research
Use the best research tool ever created. The internet. The volume of knowledge at your fingertips is astounding, whole libraries, personal experiences, technical data, ideas, opinions, facts, instructions and misinformation. It’s all there to be used as you see fit.

Can It Change Your Life (Or Someone Elses)?
Many a small project has taken on a life of it’s own and grown into something the originator never dreamed was possible. Can you use your skills to develop a community project or your own small business? Remember that shared experiences grow exponentially.

Blend and Twist
No, this is not a knitting pattern. It’s a way of thinking. Your experiences don’t exist in isolation. Blend your life experiences, intertwine them through your actions. You may have an inspiration for a creative project, or have the desire to share your skills and knowledge with others, and in the process improve your own lifestyle as well as the lives of others.

Share Your Passion
Write about it or take a video to show how it’s done. Start your own blog. In the process you will learn new skills which you can further share. It’s a process without an end, but which is full of the satisfaction of achievement.

Decide, and Take Control
If things are moving too slowly for you, discuss your passion with someone close to you, someone supportive. Talking about it will make it real. Use life’s challenges to advance yourself. Indecision and inaction are decisions in themselves, and means that nothing changes. Decide and take action. This means you have taken control over your dreams.

Taking these steps can help you learn more and be more so your life can be more fulfilling, satisfying and happy.

Stress can be good for you or it can be bad for you. There are both positive and negative stressors in life. Good or positive stressors can be things like going on vacation, putting on a party, a close baseball game, meeting a deadline, getting married, a job interview or winning a lottery. All of the former can cause stress, but usually you get feelings of increased energy and excitement. Good stress can pump you up and help get your creative juices going. Some stress is healthy and necessary.

Everyone has a different threshold for stress. One person may respond quite differently to the same situation than another. For example, someone being cut off in traffic can create a stressful response in one person and quite a different response in another. This depends on the attitudes and viewpoints we have taken on in our lifetime. One person may react with road rage shaking fists at the perpetrator; while another will rationalize that perhaps this person didn’t notice me or is in an extreme hurry and just slough it off. The latter is the healthier response.

Stress can either invigorate you or zap you of energy. Some symptoms of bad stress or “distress” are being tired all the time, always on edge with a short fuse, depression, change in sleeping patterns, frequent headaches, sore shoulders and neck, changes in weight patterns, relationship problems, diarrhea, dry mouth, sweaty palms and tight throat to name a few.

Your body will let you know that you are under too much stress. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. Consistent distress (bad stress) can lead to physical illness such as high blood pressure, heart disease and anxiety. Stress is like a guitar string, if you have the right amount of tension you can play beautiful music, but too tight a string and it can snap! This is when people have nervous breakdowns. They overload with distress and have no way to cope with all the bad stress in their life.

Remember stressors are the situations that happen to you on a daily basis i.e.: being cut off in traffic. The degree of stress you experience is your own response to that stressor. You must adapt to the stressors of daily life. There are many demands to life that we have to deal with on a daily basis such as working, raising children, getting along with our spouses and the people around us, finances, illness, ageing, isolation, lack of friends, everyday events in the world, etc. It can be tough, but we must deal with it or it will deal with us. If you are over stressed you must get support from your doctor, friends and family or a psychologist. It is healthy to reach out! You may think that this is just simple common sense, but sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees and the obvious is not always visible, when someone is in the middle of distress or a crisis in ones life.

Do you need inspiration to help you cope with the stress in your life? Then find more inspiration here http://daily-quote.net/

The traditional Halloween celebrations come round every October 31st, and these days those who enjoy the festivities the most are the children. Halloween is a time to dress up in fancy dress and take to the streets trick or treating. Some families go to a lot of trouble decorating their homes and front yards in a ghostly and eerie Halloween theme.

Halloween is a traditional Celtic festival, and has survived through the ages most strongly in the Celtic communities in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. From there, with emigration, Halloween has spread around the world, most notably to America. In recent years, the spread of popular American culture has introduced a further expansion of interest in Halloween to fresh places, such as Asia and Western Europe.

The original Celtic celebrations were pagan festivities related to the changing seasons as winter approached. Traditionally it was a time when the living could communicate with the dead, and magic was abroad. The early Christian church, as with many pagan festivals, absorbed these celebrations into the Christian calendar. All Saints Day, also known as All Hallows Day, was set down for November 1st. All Hallows Evening, the night of October 31st, became known as Hallow E’en, later just Halloween, and the time for the traditional celebrations.

Halloween celebrations were a community event, and there was usually a bonfire and fun games. The apple harvest was in full swing, and games such as trying to eat an apple on a string or floating in a barrel of water without using your hands, were popular. Children would go from door to door to gather fruit, nuts and other goodies for the festivities, which was the origin of the “treating” visits of today. In most places, especially in Scotland, the children would sing or put on a performance in return for the treats they collected. Today the treats collected are more likely to be candies and sweets, and sometimes money.

Halloween “tricks” were originally secret and often witty pranks played on some adults by children, with the blame being placed on the mischievous spirits that were said to be abroad on Halloween. This practice was especially popular in Ireland. At some stage long in the past, tricks and treating merged into a choice: give a treat or become the victim of a trick. This unfortunate development led to such practices as throwing eggs at houses and soaping windows, and worse. Today these excesses are rare.

Halloween parties are often held with a haunted house theme decoration. To the delight of children, Halloween menu items often include tomato soup renamed as vampire soup, spaghetti dishes renamed with cemetery humor as worms, and the ever-popular breadsticks tipped with sliced almonds and known as witches’ fingers. With so many pumpkins being made into carved jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin dishes such as pumpkin pie are often a feature of Halloween menus.

Over the last few years, the magical themes of the popular Harry Potter books have added fresh fun to costumes and decorations for children’s Halloween parties.

Halloween costume parties have also become popular events for adults as well in recent years. They are a great excuse to dress up and have fun. It seems the trend today is for any costume to be acceptable, not necessarily just the traditional witches, vampires and ghosts of Halloween. Costume design inspirations are now drawn from many sources, such as recent movies and television series. Some costumes are just witty, such as the seasonally appropriate theme of a leaf blower, consisting just of a leaf suspended from the brim of a cap where it can be blown.

Online Degree Programs - How Do You Pick The Right One For You?

You want to go back to school. No, you need to go back to school, and you think an online degree program is the best way to fit an education into your busy life. Once you have made that huge, life-altering decision, the big challenge is to find the right online degree program for your future plans. There are a number of important factors that you must consider when choosing an online degree program.

First, and foremost, you must pay careful attention to the program’s accreditation and standards. Some programs are purely online with no bricks-and-mortar location. many of these online programs are reputable and properly accredited, but not all, so be a careful consumer and check this out thoroughly. Also, make sure the program is credible in the field you want to enter. It would be a terrible thing to spend a lot of time and money investing in a degree that will not let you fulfill your dreams. Of course online version of traditional programs can also be problematic. While there isn’t the problem of accreditation and status, not all traditional programs “do” online well. Creating an online class or program requires a different pedagogy and planning than the more traditional counterpart. Make sure your program gets the difference between online and traditional instruction.

It is also important to find out before you choose a program how supportive the online degree program is that you are considering. On campus there are a number of readily available sources to support your education, but what if you are not on a campus? Is there somewhere to turn for technical assistance? How can you contact your instructors and are they readily available to offer help and guidance? Is there library support? Is there a way to develop relationships with faculty and students? While what you learn in class is important, it is also important to remember that the sum of those classes is not the total of your education. Can this program offer the ability to develop a support network for after graduation?

Last, but not least, how expensive will your online degree program be? Some institutions charge more for online programs. Some institutions do not offer financial aid for online programs. Find out the facts ahead of time and plan how you will support your educational plans.

The best source of information about a program are students of the online degree program you are considering, especially graduates of that program. Students can tell you about the level of support the program offers students and how well designed the classes are for distance learning. Graduates can tell you about how well received the online degree is in the field. Do not forget to ask those students if they would choose this program again knowing what they know now. Ask the program for referrals but also seek out your own. Harness the power of the internet and do searches for the degree to find those graduates. Many people post their resumes and vitas to the web so you should be able to find some students. If you cannot then that might also be telling.

Learning to spell words correctly is an important skill that will help students throughout their life. It helps with both reading and writing which are essential skills for success in today’s world. This is why the weekly spelling test is such a staple at schools throughout the United States. Knowing it is important is no consolation to those many students who struggle to learn spelling words each week or worse fail those spelling tests. What can parents do to help their children better prepare for those spelling tests? There are three simple strategies to helping children master their weekly spelling words — read, say, and write.

Most children receive their spelling words on Monday so the work should begin Monday afternoon or evening. Today you will set the foundation for the week’s work. Have the child read the list through and study each word. Then have the child say each word and spell it for you from the written list. Finally, have the child write each word three times. Now put the list away for the day.

When children struggle with spelling it often helps for you to show the child the patterns that can be found in the word list and carefully go over the words that break that pattern. Show the child how to sound out a word and give them clues that will help them remember. Demonstrate how acrobat can be broken into ac-ro-bat, for example.

On Tuesday you will likely want to repeat the same activities unless you feel the child is comfortable with the words and then you can skip ahead to the next day’s activities. The intent of these first two days is simply to familiarize the child with the words without placing any pressure on her.

Wednesday it is time to see how well the child knows the words. Give the child a written spelling test and then check the words. Have the child write each word that is missed three times. Then give the child an oral spelling test on the words that were missed. If the child stumbles on any of the words then spell the word with the child. Now put the list away for the day.

Thursday can be easy or challenging depending on the words that week and the child’s success with them. If the child is still struggling with several words then simply repeat the Wednesday activities. Try to do so as early as possible to give you time to work with the child on a couple words throughout the evening. Remember to emphasize the patterns and clues that you discussed earlier in the week.

Friday is the big day and the moment of truth to see if all your child’s hard work has paid off. Try to allow extra time before school to go over the words again. If the child’s confidence is low then do not test, simply spell the words out loud with the child. If you drive your child to school this is a great activity for the car.

What is memo? Who writes them? Who needs them?

There are three principle methods of written communication in the professions: letters, memos, and emails. While most businesses and organizations use all three on a regular basis, it is the memo that is the most frequently used.

Memos are brief messages that are usually sent between people who have already established a relationship. While letters are often used for formal communication and to establish contact, memos are used to conduct more day-to-day business. Memos have a suggested format, and many organizations develop their own template, but are less formal than a letter.

The heading of a memo contains four simple elements — To, From, Subject, and Date. Additionally, a CC or BC line may be added if more people should read the information included in the memo.

Employees in all types of businesses and organizations write memos. Memos are sent out to inform of an upcoming event or report on a decision that has been made. Memos are also sent out to request a specific action be taken.

Many times the actual business that is included in the memo was negotiated informally e-mail, phone, or personal communication, but once a decision has been made a memo is created to record the decision or document an action.

Memos are usually short and succinct. Carefully organize the document. It is important to make the purpose of the memo clear at the opening. If your memo includes more than a few paragraphs it is a good idea to use headings to help your reader quickly scan the document for the necessary information. While it is important to report only necessary information, sometimes you may need to provide background or support information so all readers can fully understand the information. The memo should close with the required or suggested action you want the reader(s) to take.

Most memos are a single sheet but it is permissible to have more pages. Print all additional pages on plain paper rather than letterhead. Include three items in the upper right or left corner: the name of the recipient, the page number, and the date of the memo.

Spend time revising and rewording your memo so it is as clear and succinct as possible. Also spend time proofreading carefully for spelling and grammar errors. Often memos will be filed and kept as a permanent record. No one wants their mistakes preserved in the company files.

Learning to write a clear, concise memo is an important skill for many professionals.

The Power of Positive Thinking is the title of a best-selling book by the late Norman Vincent Peale. Thousands of people claim that the Power of Positive Thinking was a major factor in achieving their success.

Is it really the biggest factor in becoming successful?

Recent studies have shown that attitude, above education and other factors, has the biggest impact on your future success. If you have dreams that you want to achieve, you better start by evaluating your attitude.

Having a positive attitude and becoming a positive thinker is the most important step you can take in achieving your dreams. The best part is that it is relatively easy to become a positive thinker. It is just a matter of changing your habits of thought.

Positive thinking just requires that you change the way you handle the circumstances of your life. You want to start paying attention to the thoughts that you have throughout the day. Most of us have an internal monologue that goes through our minds during the day. Have you ever paid close attention to those thoughts?

Make it a habit to start monitoring your thoughts. Notice how many times in the day you are feeling discouraged, critical, sad, depressed or any one of many negative emotions. To set yourself up for better success, you’ve got to start thinking more positively.

When you become a positive thinker, you do not let one bad event ruin the rest of your day, or worse, the rest of your life. So many people walk around with a chip on their shoulder, and most of them do not even have a right to be mad. They are holding onto trivial matters and making themselves miserable.

Embrace the power of positive thinking by releasing those grudges. Allow yourself to react to bad events in your life, but pick yourself up again and keep on going toward your goal. Do not hold onto those bad feelings, and do not make yourself miserable. There is no point in holding onto those negative thoughts.

Positive thinking is not about being detached from reality. It is about taking charge of your reality, and taking charge of your thoughts. Whatever you concentrate on for most of the day is what you will create in your life. If you are concentrating on the negative, guess what you will get more of?

Become a positive thinker by focusing on the good in your life. You will begin to see more good come into your life, and then you will realize the true power of positive thinking.

Technical writing, sometimes called business writing, is writing for a specific purpose and with a specific goal. Usually its goal is to inform/instruct or persuade/argue. Technical writing can really be considered transactional writing because there are two people or groups involved in the communication. One party has a clear goal to inform or persuade the other party. This is real-world writing in every sense. You may not be aware of how much it already impacts your world through textbooks, instructions, web sites, and communications from many businesses and service organizations. There are professional technical communicators but only large organizations have them and even then they are not there to do your daily work for you and that is why it is so helpful for many to take at least an introductory technical writing class.

Why is technical communication important and what will you use it for? Actually, technical writing will be used by most college graduates as a regular part of their work. It is much more likely that you will use technical writing than either academic or creative writing unless you specifically enter those fields. A few examples of why you will likely need these skills include: getting a job – preparing a resume or curriculum vitae, cover letter, application, and portfolio; doing your job – preparing memos, letters, reports, instructions, case reports, reviews, assignments, descriptions, etc.; and keeping your job – communicating with management, co-workers, peers, patients/students/public.

What separates technical communication from other forms of writing, such as academic writing? Technical communication has a specific audience and is purposeful, usually intended to solve a problem for that audience. One area that really sets technical communication apart is that it is quite often collaborative. Technical communication is also focused on readability issues, not only the use of clear writing, but also page design and graphics. The excellence of technical writing is judged by clarity, accuracy, comprehensiveness, accessibility, conciseness, professional appearance, and correctness.

There are seven principles to guide technical writing: remember your purpose (to inform or persuade), remember your audience (their concerns, background, attitude toward your purpose), make your content specific to its purpose and audience, write clearly and precisely (active voice, appropriate language to audience), make good use of visuals (good page design and graphics), and be ethical (truthful, full disclosure, no plagiarizing).

Technical communication serves both explicit, or clear, and implicit, or implied, purposes. Explicit purposes include to provide information, to provide instructions, to persuade the reader to act upon the information, or to enact or prohibit something. Implicit purposes include establishing a relationship, creating trust, establishing credibility, and documenting actions. Most technical communications are based on a problem statement which gives your document a clearly stated objective for your benefit as well as your reader’s. The problem statement defines the problem, by doing more than simply stating your topic, it goes on to explain what about that topic is at issue. For example, if your topic is career guidance then your problem could be the fact that many adults need help identifying a career that suits their strengths and abilities and the solution that your document will present is to create a comprehensive clearing house that helps people identify career paths through military, vocational training, and higher education.

Many students accumulate a number of loans during their stay in college. This is most often associated with their their day to day cost of living in obtaining their college degree.

The high cost of education makes students take up these loans. In other countries the cost of education is subsidized by their government but this is not so everywhere. Although grants may be obtained the cost of education is still relatively quite high.

The aim of students are noble. They acquire a good education, be a good citizen and secure their future. The problem arises in repaying the debt.

Payments for student loans usually come at just about the time that they graduate and are supposed to be working. The numerous monthly installments of these student loans along with their different interest rates can sometimes be disturbing. It can bother students so much as to cause them to lose sleep and even get diverted from the normal path of working on their careers.

One thing to do to avoid this inconvenient situation is to try and combine their student loans. This is commonly known as student loan consolidation. It is simply a type of loan which aims to absorb all the previous loans taken by a student. You are trying to consolidate several loans into one. A student will be able to save time and effort as it would be very much easier to handle one payment every month than having several separate payments. Another benefit of this is that it has a lower interest rate than the accumulation of interest rates of the various other student loans. When a student decides to consolidate all his loans, he only has to worry about paying one interest rate and not several different rates on different loans.

Most consolidated loans also offer more flexible and easier repayment options than all the other student loans. A consolidated loan is also generally free of any kind of prepayment penalty, an added benefit that students can take advantage of.

You wouldn’t normally delay or waste your time trying to decide. Doing it as early as the opportunity presents itself has its benefits. There may be times when the interest rates on existing loans are expected to rise and this will surely add more to the debt burden.

Do your own research about consolidating your loans and take time to look over the fine print on loan discounts. Think wisely and save yourself unwanted stress and worries.

Investing in your continuing education? What is it and why do it? It sounds a bit boring doesn’t it? No way! It’s about life. Your life, and future. And the future of your family, community and the planet. What could be more exciting?

The reasons for getting more than a high school or even a university education, are many and varied. Not only can you advance your position in traditional employment but you can open doors to new experiences and opportunities. Most people would agree that school did not properly equip them for living a life above the ordinary.

As the saying goes, the world really is your oyster. Continuing your education will unleash your potential, reveal your untapped talents and set you on a path to success and fulfilling your dreams.

Knowledge is the key. Knowing what action to take or not to take. Doing what others are unable to do because they don’t have the knowledge is the key to creating your environment of change. Knowledge also does one more important thing, it can make you less fearful of change.

Remember that learning is a skill in itself. Being open to new ideas and concepts is crucial to your personal development. Find your strengths and build on them. Find your weaknesses and eliminate them. Find your passions and develop them. Find new trends, make opportunities and monetize them.

Equally as important as learning is taking action. Maybe it’s even more important, as without action nothing will change. In fact confusion and frustration may result and set you back.

Learning isn’t just about creating wealth. Though that’s a very good reason as it provides you with the ultimate lifestyle opportunity - choice.

It can be about designing a new life through improved lifestyle, health and wellbeing. It’s about finding and developing your artistic passion. It’s about learning to feed your inner being through meditation and spirituality.

It’s about finding ways to protect your new life and wealth, through fully legal, properly constructed, financial tools like trusts which protect your assets and learning the other tax secrets of the rich.

It’s about discovering new technologies, and evolving innovative ways to use them to save time and make money. It’s about implementing new ways to save energy, minimize your impact on the planet. It’s about creating generational change. It’s about learning to think clearly and analyze the facts for yourself.

Of course, learning comes at a cost, seminars and courses can be costly. Plus they take time. Consider that it is an investment in yourself. Is it worth it? Absolutely, we all deserve a life lived to the full. You alone must determine the worth of any program of learning, because you are the only person who knows what you truly desire.

Writing is one of the most essential skills we must learn in today’s society. It is important to success in school. It is important to success in the work force. Writing is important to participate in the new global economy. Not only is writing important for communicating with others, it is also an important part of learning and problem solving. While most people fully recognize just how important writing is, many still do not fully understand how to develop this important life skill. There are four important rules to remember when working to develop your writing skills.

Writing cannot be learned in a short time. You can take a writing class that can help you improve your skill but drastic improvements to your writing skill is really the task of a lifetime. Writing is complex and challenging and takes time to learn then even more time to fully develop your potential as a writer.

Writing cannot be learned from a book or a lecture. A good writing teacher is more of a coach than a lecturer because truly the only way to improve your writing is through practice. Writing is a skill that requires you to develop your muscle memory just as other arts, such as music and dance, as well as sports. You must continually practice a dance step or football play before it becomes second nature. The same principle holds true of writing.

Writing is a process. Writing must proceed through a series of steps: invention, drafting, revising and editing. While the process is universal, each individual writer has a unique process that can be adapted to changing writing tasks. The writing process is recursive and writers may find themselves moving back and forth between steps on some writing projects.

Writing is socially situated. Unless writing strictly for yourself, it is important to spend time contemplating the social situation of your writing task. Who is your audience? What type of language use does that audience expect? Should the writing be formal or casual? What knowledge can you expect the audience to possess and what knowledge does the audience expect of you as the writer?

Anyone can be a writer. Writing well is not a gift from the gods or an inherited trait. It is a skill that can be learned and refined through practice. It takes time and effort to learn to write well, just as anything worth doing does, but the rewards for your effort can be infinite.

The words “Schools Out For Summer” strike joy into the hearts of children and often a sigh of relief for parents who are just as eager to take a break from homework as their progeny. However taking a complete break from the books for the entire summer can be problematic.

Studies have shown that children forget between 1 and 3 months of school during the summer vacation. While reading is the least effected, the most impacted subjects are spelling and math. Obviously it is important for children to have time to play and relax — to just enjoy being kids during the summer. Children should not be pushed into a high-pressure study schedule over summer vacation. But parents can take steps to slow down that loss of knowledge and erosion of skills.

First and foremost, keep children reading over the summer but try to work in some nonfiction as well as fiction onto the reading list. Take a lesson from many experienced teachers and pick a few spelling words from the books children are reading. Perhaps tie test results into some special summer reward and you will have eagerly awaited spelling bees.

Writing is one skill that often erodes during summer, but you can give children a writing journal and a weekly goal. They can write about whatever you think will interest your child. They can report on their baseball games, make up elaborate games, or simply report on the books they are reading. There are lots of great writing prompts out there for kids if you run dry of ideas. It does not matter so much what your child writes so long as they spend time writing so they can work on handwriting skills as well as keep in the groove of putting words on paper. One easy writing prompt is to have the child describe people, places, objects, pets and other animals, insects, and games. Lists are another easy writing prompt — favorite things, worst things, etc. Then on another day you can use those descriptions and lists to generate another writing prompt.

Math skills might seem the hardest thing to work on during summer but in fact these can be the easiest. Math does not have to come out of a book and you can easily work a lot of math lessons into those long car rides or plane trips as you go on a family vacation. Try counting car headlights (counting by 2s) as you drive or fingers in a restaurant or plane (counting by 5s). Find various shapes around the house and then trace them to create yet more complex forms. Get the kids involved in cooking and learning about measurements. Give the kids a ruler and notebook and tell them to measure various objects around the house. Empty out your pocket change and have the kids sort it and create word problems with the coins.

There are lots of activities you can do at home without the expense of special tools, workbooks or programs that will actively engage your child in learning and help keep their school skills sharp. They will not even notice they are learning because they will enjoy these projects so much.

There is a huge market for parenting classes in this busy world. Many people find that they do not know how to balance their jobs as parents with their occupational goals, so they attend parenting classes to get some advice and to get some grounding in terms of parenting. These people meet regularly with other parents to share tips, get advice and to gain information in terms of parenting so that they can take what they learn in class home with them to create a better working family.

One of the things people learn about in a parenting class is parenting style. There are virtually thousands of options and many people vary their own parenting style several times during the life of the child. Some maintain a nurturing style throughout and display affection and lavish caring towards the child at all ages. Others maintain a more distant style of parenting, preferring to let words promote the parenting style as opposed to actions. Whatever the parenting style is, parenting classes offer a glimpse into the variations between these notions.

Parenting education is another important aspect of parenting classes. Many people go to parenting classes because of the sharing of information. People find, in talking about their issues, that they are able to learn more about parenting. This sharing of parenting education is prosperous for parents and for the children that benefit from new pieces of shared information about raising a family. With the right education, many parents learn how to treat sickness with their child or how to handle a tough psychological problem with their teen.

There are, of course, options for those parents that are parenting baby. A babies needs tend to be more specific and involve a greater amount of care in terms of parenting needs. A baby needs a great deal of attention, so parenting baby training picks up on that and works with tons of valuable information to create the best possible parenting skill-set. From these types of parenting classes, people are finding more confidence to continue parenting baby.

Regardless of the age group of the children, many parents are finding that attending parenting classes is an incredibly helpful way to go about learning more about the troubles and trials of parenting. It is also a great way to communicate and form a network of other supportive parents. One of the major benefits at most parenting classes tends to be the notion of treating each parent, each member of the relationship, as the same and as equal partners in parenting classes.

There are many options for parenting classes. They are typically offered in community centers or within church groups and run year-round on all of the days of the week to accommodate the busy schedule of the average working parent. Finding parenting classes is typically just a matter of looking in a phone book or contacting local representatives for community information. Parenting classes can make all of the difference in the world, even to the most seasoned parenting veteran.

There are many different aspects of parenting that qualify as alternative parenting, including Christian parenting, gay parenting and surrogate parenting. All of these are somewhat normative in that they involve loving sets of parents that take care of their children, but many of the details can create a stir in the hearts and minds of detractors. Whether or not the debate surrounding Christian parenting, gay parenting and surrogate parenting is necessary is irrelevant because it exists and we are inundated with it.

As the world changes, so do parenting rights. What once was regarded as being purely for a man and a woman under legal definitions has now been spread to meet the changing needs of our evolving society. Gay families now have equal parenting rights in most North American areas. Marriage rights for homosexuals is another can of worms, however.

While Christian parenting and gay parenting may seem to be polar opposites, they are often greeted by opposition in the public arena because of the controversial viewpoints that exist. While on the one hand, Christian parenting detractors vocalize their opinions on the notion that Christian parenting involves teaching children a “mythology” at a very young age without offering choices, they also advocate that this parenting approach traditionally expresses solid value systems in children.

The same perplexing two-pronged sentiments are expressed towards parents of the homosexual persuasion. One the one hand, many people seem to intrinsically doubt the notion that two homosexual people can be parents. On the other hand, people also think that the only requirement of a marriage and a family relationship is for the two people to be loving and capable of compassion in regards to one another. In that respect, one would assume that the viewpoint in terms of gay parenting seems a little bit contradictory.

Surrogate parenting is another topic that often gets thrown into the mix that affects Christian parenting and gay parenting. Surrogate parenting is the controversial practice of seeking out a vessel to carry a child until childbirth and then passing the child over to another parent. Many people object to this practice because they view it as being “baby farming”. This objection typically comes right on the heels of the statement that a surrogate mother is one of the most tenderly giving women in the world because she gives of her own body. This confusing point of view is more evidence as to the perplexing arena of debate surrounding the various types of controversial parenting.

Christian parenting, gay parenting and surrogate parenting all face an enormous amount of criticism from the general public in terms of what is required as ethical parenting. These issues are typically not ethical issues, however, and instead stem from a very basic and primitive paranoia about the raising of children in the Western world. Christian parenting, gay parenting and surrogate parenting are all important aspects of parenting that should be noted for their loving compassion before any social issue gets in the way of good sense.

The best parenting books tend to be the ones written by those with actual parental experience. It seems that this qualifies them to write and discuss parenting, but it may not always make them the best authors. Still, when it comes to taking the advice of either a parent with a little dirt on his or her fingers or the advice of an “expert” with no children, many parents would select parenting books written by the former.

As parents, it is common to wonder how a person with no child-raising experience is at all qualified to write parenting books. Instead, most parents want a book written by someone with knowledge of parenting and all of the trials involved in the most harmful and dangerous of life’s professions.

Many parenting books tend to take a viewpoint that looks at it as parenting from the inside out. This simple philosophy refers to the notion that authors of these books are reflecting on their own personal experience as a parent and are, therefore, offering parenting advice from someone experienced with parenting from the inside out. As someone who has been down many of the same roads before, parenting advice can typically be well-founded when it comes from an experienced parent.

Of course, not everyone that writes a parenting book needs to undergo systematic training for effective parenting. Often in lieu of systematic training for effective parenting, an author of parenting books may have a degree in pediatrics and may be experienced in child psychology. The author can then approach the prospect of writing parenting books from a position of expertise and not necessarily a position of experience. In this matter, the advice and words from an author with such expertise would be well-founded, but the matter of whether or not it would be as broadly accepted as the same advice from an author that was an actual parent is another matter altogether.

Various BBC parenting specials, for example, often utilize the advice of several of Britain’s highly trained pediatricians in their construction. These BBC parenting specials ask for advice from several of the UK’s top experts on parenting and piece together a feature documentary based around that qualified information. The BBC then also asks the advice of parents. In many of these specials, it is often amusing to examine the differences in advice given from the childless experts in comparison to the seasoned veteran parents. While both pieces of advice are typically genuine and can be considered “right”, it seems that the advice from the actual parents in these cases is generally more realistic and based on actual experience as opposed to potential theory.

Parenting books are constructed in the same fashion, but other times a parenting book may be written by a parenting expert based on theories that they are aware of. A parent is more than capable and more than experienced when it comes to knowing about parenting, so trusting their ideas when it comes to parenting books is probably a good idea. Whether you decide on parenting books from so-called experts or from regular parents, both can contain good ideas and great advice for the ultimate task of parenting your children.

Parenting books are often very helpful to parents, especially in terms of getting answers to the load of questions most parents have. Seeking out advice can be difficult, but most of the books on the market contain great advice that is easy and rather pleasant to read. Parenting books can be really helpful in many situations by developing a good understanding of the life-long job of being a parent and tempering it with some good advice.

Accredited distance learning is a great way to work towards changing careers or to give you the edge when working your way up the corporate ladder. Good education from a reputable distance learning school may help you to improve your skills and finally obtain your dream job that provides a better income. The choice of education facilities that offer distance learning is vast. Here are some things to help you make your choice about which distance learning school is best for you.

In fact, there are so many distance learning programs out there that it is easy to see why one can be overwhelmed when attempting to choose one. People interested in medicine can take a distance learning nursing program. Some pursue a distance learning engineering degree. Others sign up for computer technology or criminal justice. The top schools in the nation with solid reputations offer accredited distance learning programs to satisfy almost every educational need, from psychology to golf.

Accredited distance learning programs and online education promise to assist with future goals, but you need to note that you will be investing time and your hard-earned money to obtain a distance learning degree. Considering that, choose wisely. Which ever distance learning school you choose, be forewarned. They are not all created equal. Do some background research to ensure that a potential employer will view your qualifications as viable, due to the credibility of the institute you have chosen.

In order to establish this type of credibility, you will need to be particular about the distance learning school you choose. When looking at potential distance learning programs that interest you, note if the school is a reputable one for distance programs and how applicable or transferable their degrees are. An accredited distance learning school ensures that all the curriculum they offer is keeping up with the changing times. The world changes very quickly as new technology comes out and this increases the demand of many different types of jobs. It is essential that the accredited distance learning school reflect this trend in their organization. Good facilities offer distance learning programs that enable students to graduate with a degree that provides fully transferable and applicable skills.

When looking at specific distance learning schools, make sure that you perform a solid background check as reputation is important. Accredited distance learning is a fairly new concept and therefore some schools are substandard. Does the facility have a long-standing history with traditional classroom teaching? Schools that have been around for years and that have a good reputation usually offer worthy accredited distance learning. Have you heard the name of the school before? When researching potential schools, do you keep finding the name of the accredited distance learning school on different websites or does it seem to be a school lost amongst the pack of bigger facilities?

Accredited distance learning is important, if you wish to show potential employers that you are serious about your chosen career. There are many distance learning schools that offer courses without providing any sort of credit for the instruction you receive, So, you must be aware of this ahead of time. These distance learning courses can be fun ones to explore new skills or to brush up on existing ones, but unless you receive certification of completion or some form of credit, they may not be courses that employers find valuable. If you’re serious about a career boost, find a distance learning school that will provide you the credentials you need.

Many students have a certain mindset when it comes to taking distance learning programs or signing up for online learning courses. Some mindsets are correct and some are not. Here is a look at the advantages and disadvantages of taking distance learning online courses.

A better focus and concentration is a huge advantage of distance learning programs. Wasted time commuting and the distractions of listening to lectures amidst a group of shuffling people are gone. Distance learning courses can be worked on when the time is right and when the student can sit down to fully direct his or her attention to the course material.

Everyone in an online classroom gets a chance to contribute. Many times, students grouped in traditional classrooms are reluctant to raise their hand to either ask or answer a question. In a room full of fellow students, pressure to avoid embarrassment is high. With distance learning programs, students are able to think through a question carefully and can post the answer online to the distance learning school website or message board, when they are ready to do so.

Being taught online leaves very little room for cheating or slacking off. As with live classrooms, quizzes and exams through distance learning programs are timed. Through discussion boards of the distance learning school, it is easy to tell whether or not a student understands the ideas in a lesson. There is actually little chance for people to get by unnoticed while competing a distance learning course.

With online courses, there is no such thing as a 7 am class. There is no driving across town and having to hunt down a parking spot that is close to campus. Distance learning programs give students the ease of learning at their own pace and at their own convenience. Students can study their distance learning course in the comfort of their own home.

With that being said, working at home can have its own set of distractions. The sound of the television, the telephone, or the noise coming from kids or pets can be major distractions. Working online can also lead to temptation of doing something more fun, such as chatting via instant messaging or surfing the web. It may not apply to every student, but things like browsing can take out a chunk of time in your day that could have been used towards your distance learning program.

Distance learning courses involve independent learning, with very little physical contact with the teacher or other students. Everything must be done on your own. Taking online classes from a distance learning school usually means things like study groups are nonexistent, due mostly to time or distance constraints. While some students thrive on working independently, other students find difficulty in going at it alone.

When a student has a problem while working on homework or on an exam, the student taking a distance learning course can directly ask a teacher for help. With distance learning programs, though, the teacher and students may not be together at the same time, meaning that an instructor cannot give a student immediate feedback and must communicate differently.

Distance learning programs are taught through a computer and a student must uphold a minimum level of computer knowledge. Knowing just the basics of computer technology is usually not enough for a student to excel within an online class.

Some people don’t fully grasp a new lesson or concept on the first explanation, or when given only one example. Distance learning programs assume that the student will understand the material presented, but many people may need the material presented a different way (or in other words) for the idea to truly sink in. For some individuals, the lack of discussion to be able to thoroughly understand the distance learning course material, might be considered a disadvantage of distance learning programs. However, other means of getting extra help are usually established by the distance learning school and students can find other ways to communicate with professors or assistants.

Developing an individual writing process is key to your success as a writer. Studies of struggling writers show that one of the reasons they struggle is that they focus on only one aspect of writing.

So what is the writing process? First it is important to note that there is no such thing as “the writing process”. Yes, there is a writing process that embraces the notion that there are certain essential steps that successful writers employ when writing but that process varies greatly depending on the writer and then individual writers also vary their process according to the writing task at hand. That means that there is no such as “the writing process” but that a personal, individual writing process which you adjust to the varying circumstances of your writing can be tremendously helpful.

However, before you can begin to individualize your writing process and then adjust it to different tasks, you must learn more about the theory behind the writing process.

The theory of writing process begins with prewriting or invention stage. This is when you may need to do brainstorming, research, and planning to get started with your writing project. This is the stage that struggling writers spend the least time on and experienced writers spend much more time as they know that more attention and thought at this stage can save time and effort later. This stage may have a lot to show for it in terms of prewriting and research or it might take place primarily inside the writer’s brain. This depends on the individual writer, the complexity of the task, and the familiarity of the writer with the task.

Only after spending time at the prewriting stage do writers move on to drafting. This is where the actual writing takes place but encompasses more than one draft and several sessions of writing spread over time. Drafting focuses on simply getting words on paper and emptying the brain of ideas for this project.

Writers move on to revision after those early drafts have filled out and developed some substance. It is during the multiple drafts of the revision stage that the writing project shapes into something resembling the intended final project. The paper is not yet done but it looks and feels like the intended genre, the ideas are fully developed and the organization is functional.

Then writers move on the editing stage where they attend to correctness issues including cleaning up spelling, grammar, word choice, and polishing the writing. This is the correct time to deal with these issues as concentrating on them earlier in the writing process will slow down the development of ideas.

After editing, writers should seek out feedback for the final stage of the writing process to determine what further revision or editing might be necessary to complete the writing project. Feedback should be sought from skilled readers familiar with either the subject matter or the type of writing project so they can offer more informed review.

While each individual writing process will include some general variation of these elements it is important for writers to recognize that an effective writing process reflects their own individual strengths, weaknesses, and work habits. The writing process should also vary according to the project as well. Obviously a new, complex project will demand much more during prewriting and invention than a familiar topic and comfortable project genre.
